Night Of A Thousand Gowns - 2002

Mahriluuz, our Cinderella, looks pretty as a princess and is certainly as happy. Behind Mahriluuz are Miss Tiger, Miss Shannon, and Miss Vera, very happy to be on our way to the fabulous Night of 1000 Gowns. Academy girls, especially Miss Vera, are made for limos and champagne. A toast to you all! Can you see the excitement on Mahriluuz's face as we arrive at the Marriott Marquis hotel and she is helped out of the limo by an admiring fan. I want all of you girls to study how elegantly a lady can exit a limo. Always wait for the chauffeur to open the door and remember, cleavage first! Among the first persons we see is Empress XII Anne Tique, all ready to appear in the opening number as a cha-cha girl. Behind her is the sign denoting the outgoing monarchs, Empress XV Fiona St. James and Emperor XI Damian. There have been more empresses than emperors 'cause everyone wants to wear a dress.
Empress XV Fiona St. James is center stage as Maria in West Side story, the first of several spectacular production numbers. You just try to keep those girls off the stage! This is the role Fiona, the first Latina Empress Of New York was born to play. Behind her a cast of cha-cha girls show off their talents and crinolines. The Hartford Harlettes, from Hartford, Connecticut. Miss Tiger, our Ballet Mistress is determined to start an academy cheerleading squad. Any volunteers? Miss Vera's Academy table (l to r), John, husband to Miss Viqui; student Mahriluuz; Miss Viqui, deputy headmistress; Miss Vera; Miss Deborah, dean of cosmetology; student Gayle Candy Love; Miss Tiger, Miss Eva, dean of seductive arts; Miss Patti Harrington aka Countess Barbie Queue. Fun on the dance floor, Mahriluuz seems to be concentrating on her footwork (at left). Miss Deborah has a dance floor re-union with academy alumna Carole Jenkins. Miss Deborah shows off her impeccable taste in a velvet gown. Carole, once a conservative accountant has come a long way baby! A platinum 'do, lashes for days, body paint and (what you don't see) a midriff-baring dress...there is nothing subtle about this girl! Individual members of the Court are introduced. Stunning in silver is Marchioness Charlene Chivoe. Academy girls get to strut their stuff on the runway too when they make their curtsys and are presented to the monarchs. It's a true coming out party.
Imperial Coronation. A glowing pink feathered train extends behind incoming Empress XVI Lita Austin, the Schiaparelli Empress of Compassion and Couture as she kneels with Emperor XII Mathius Bloussant and the two await their crowns. The family members of newly crowned monarchs leave the stage. In the foreground, Empress XI Gianna with Emperor X Gabriell Della Notte; followed by Empress VII Coco LaChine, the Absolute Empress of New York with Prince Royal Ron. Miss Vera and Mahriluuz meet the monarchs. Emperor Mathius and Empress Lita Austin will reign for a year, but Mahriluuz was our queen for a day. She has stars in her eyes as we share a pink moment with the royals.

Gayle’s Wedding

A proud Gayle extends her hand to a woman from a neighboring table who admired her engagement ring. Mirror, mirror on the wall. Gayle is the fairest of them all on her wedding day. Miss Melissa helps her get ready. Miss Vera gives Fr. Michele the once over. Behind her is Allen, the wedding singer and behind Fr. Michele is bridesmaid Countess Ashley Pennington. A cake to dream on, ordered by Deputy Dean Miss Viqui, our feast mistress. Groom Hank on bended knee (as he should be), removes Gayle's garter before tossing it to the bachelors.
The bride cuts the cake and takes the cake!
